All I can say is keep the return pipe as short as possible with as little 90 degree pipe as possible .
Currently on my 5,2,2, Arowana tank the plumbing is as follows.

The return pump is a Eheim 1262, my return lines uses the 16/22 hose and output with the Eheim installation set (https://www.eheim.com/en_GB/products...tallationsSets) which might caused some head loss with 90 degree bends on top of the narrow hoses.
Therefore i order a Jebao DSP5000 , which eventually i will need to do new plumbing with 25mm pipes.
So i am wondering is it better to place the return parallel to my Overflow and also looks neater.

If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.
Don't walk behind me as I might not lead, don't walk in front of me as I might not follow. Walk beside me, as my friend.
Mohamad Rohaizal is my name. If it's too hard, use BFG. I don't mind.
I just realised my reply a few days ago was not successful. Here I go again...
Your image is not showing. I'm curious how you hookup your installation sets... whether you are using hoses or using pipes.
I agree with BFG: shorter and less bends.
Regarding the 25mm pipes: I'm using an Eheim 126X (can never remember the last digit) as well. But I use the inlet nozzle as the outlet and attach the Eheim 25/34mm hoses to the 25mm PVC pipes. I initially used a short hose, but due to the stiffness of these hoses, a lot of vibration is transferred to the PVC pipes, and that created a barely audible but annoying hum. To mitigate this, I use a longer hose now. But as its hard to bend, the loop occupies a lot of space in the sump. I'll try to post ta photo later.
Anyway, do share your plans... see if others can give suggestions.

This is what i thought i might want to do

Thanks for the advice.
Will you be using PVC pipes? The 25/34mm hoses are a pain to position due to their stiffness and weight. Though you can be sure you'll get gentle bends if you can position them.
You won't be able to bend the hose over the tank top edge. In my old tank, I had to use Eheim 25mm elbows for that part.

I am going with 25mm PVC pipes. The plumbing would roughly look like this

Depending on the plumbing the last stage will be one of this nozzle.
Looks well thought out.
The flow switch is just a valve with lever to adjust flow right? I find that the ones for PVC pipes are very hard to adjust finely. The valves for hoses are easier to adjust. But that depends on whether you plan to use it to adjust flow or just open and close, and how much control you want.
Where did you find 25mm silicon hose? I was Googling and looking in various LFS, and I couldn't find any.

with RED PVC pipes :P
Not too sure about the adjustment i rarely adjust the 2 valves from the overflow to the sump , should be pretty okay , the sizes were 32/40 if i remember correctly.
