Hi guys, I just like to ask about what fishes are not good to go with Amano shrimps. Coz I got them together with Cardinals and Rummy Nose Tetras, 2 Harlequin Rasboras, 2 White Cloud Mountain Minnows and 2 Siamese Algae Eaters. Next day, I saw the 2 SAE's just sucking on the dead shrimps. Thanks in advance!

All the fishes named are not shrimp friendly.

The safest are otos and panda loach. But there are some who still claim they saw these 2 napping on the shrimplets.

Some who managed to comm shrimps with fishes you mentioned is because it is heavily planted and the tank is huge

Hi,ensure your tank is heavily planted and have many hidden place.
You can get those smaller species fishes like rasbora.
Ensure also your fishes are well fed too.

From the list, I think the Siamese Algae eater is the first one I will isolate.

Angelfish is carnivorous that is very teritorial and aggressive, especially when they are matured.

    Re: non-shrimp friendly fishes

Your yamato shrimps most likely died due to other causes (perhaps unsuitable tank conditions or just transition stress)... then the siamese algae eaters start to feed on them. These fishes will do the same with other dead fishes too. As scavengers and grazers, this is normal.

In my community tanks with tetras, rasboras and shrimps, the fishes don't bother the adult shrimps, but whenever a shrimp dies due to old age or illness, the fishes will pick at it as food (even otos and loaches will nibble abit too), the other shrimps will also cluster around the dead carcass and consume it. Its all part of the recycling process by scavengers and omnivores.

Of course, if you were to keep larger fishes (ie. angel fishes, larger cichlids, giant gouramis etc) which can swallow adult sized shrimps, then most like they will do that as shrimps are considered food for larger fishes. Even your smaller tetras may also become food too.

Hi there i just wna say that your fish arent compatible! Almost all of ur fish need schools of 6 or more and the white cloud mountain minnows are not temp compatible with the rest of the fishes!
