    Re: New nano shrimp tank

Already 4 months. I would like to share my shrimp tank before i decomm it.

This was my initial setup with HELP advance shrimp soil. Was recommended by LFS instead of ADA soil, so i bought the Advanced soil which is cheaper. I bought my first batch of 6 cherry shrimps, all died with a white crack on the neck. Only then i realized how important is water GH. Tested GH 2, KH 0 even with a bag of shirakura Mineral stones.

I recommend new cherry shrimp hobbyist to watch his video, very simple, nothing fancy.

    Re: New nano shrimp tank

So... Marks Shrimp says hard water..... I changed my substrate to Seachem onyx sand which have high mineral especially calcium.

    My Setup

    1.5ft, 40L tank
    Seachem Onyx Sand
    Sponge filter (air pump 200L/hr)
    Shirakura Mineral stones
Decoration - bonsai tree & rocks with mini fissiden, ceramic tubes, some petite nana

    I feed everyday
high interest -Nettle stix, mulberry leaf, Ocean nutrition community fish flake, Snowflakes, barley, Hiraki mini wafer
medium interest - hiraki crab stick, peas
Low interest - shirakura vivid, carrot...

    Water parameter

    ammonia - 0
    no2 - 0
    no3 - 0

    Temperature - 29/30
    PH - 8
    GH- 8 - 12
    Kh 4
    Tds - 150

Sorry, my tank full of algae....

Today's menu - Hiraki mini wafer

Berried mum - already gave birth to about 16 shrimplets, still have somemore to go. My previous batch also same, gave birth for 2-3 days and waited for another week then carry on, total about 30+ shrimplets.... this period only doing small water top up and picking of some dirts here and there

Shrimplets! That's why i didnt clear the walls of algae, important food source for them (they don't eat green spot aglae). Probably softer food which i find useful - Fish flakes (they eat this immediately) & Mulberry leaf (after about a week old they will start to eat)

I have to admit... i cant take it anymore... too much algae..... bought a bag of 5 nerite snails, only this one super hard working. 2 died, the other 2 seem to be weak, cant stick to wall for long....

My apologies, poorly taken photos and very very blur tank walls......
