Growing DHG without co2

Hi did anyone ever grown dwarf hair grass without co2 and had a nice carpet? Or anyone tried to use diy co2 at fist for the DHG to carpet and grow first before removing the co2? Is that possible? Would appreciate some info

I experienced stagnant or very minimum growth , and end by uprooted by shrimps on my low tech nano tank.
