How to use inflow surface skimmer

Hi guys i just acquired inflow skimmer. My first time using skimmer. Can someone give me guidance on how it works. I noticed the bottom of skimmer has an adjustable water "suction" should i left the openning to maximum?

The adjustment is for you to control how much surface intake you need as compare with the bottom intake. Adhyst it under you see a vortex or water inflow from the surface will do.
