Hi, is shiruba xb303 adequate for a 20 gallon tank? Anyone had used the filter before, how was it?

    Re: Shiruba xb303 for 20gallon

    Hi Rain291,

From the specs of Shiruba XB303, (http://www.eastoceansg.com/shop-by-b...er-360l-h.html) so if your 20 gallon tank is 80 litres max, then it should be ok.

However, you need to consider whether does it provide sufficient turnover rate for your tank (360/80 = 4.5 turnover rate/hr) based on the following factors:

    - Type of livestock (goldfish/tetra/shrimps)
    - Bioload (light/heavy)
    - Landscape (planted/bare tank)
    - Circulation (any dead spots if your tank is planted etc)

I have not used it before, but some articles online recommend pushing the turnover rate to as high as 10x depending on what is in your tank.

Perhaps you can share what is your 20 gallon tank will be used for so that we provide better suggestions.

    Hope my input helps!

From my experience, its not enough. The efficiency of the filter drops after few months of usage, not as consistent as the better brands. Suggest you to invest in a better filter

    Re: Shiruba xb303 for 20gallon

I use it for my planted tank and it is definitely not enough circulation/flow. I would think it is okay for a bare Tank with light bioload.

Looking to upgrade my currently filter now. My advise is go for a better filter.
