    Does anyone know how to calculate the bioload for a tank? i mean...what is too much and what is too little...if there is such a thing as too little.. or does that depend on your plant mass?? i was looking at my 3 feet and started thinking that i have too much crap in there..lol..think i may need to send some for adoption or something...hmmmm..

    Whats the reccomended bioload for a 3 feet...including shrimp, cleaners and ornamental fishes?? like 50? e.g. 20 fishes, 20 cherry shrimps, 2 SAEs, 3otos, 5 snails.?? something like that?

    Well from what I remember in bio class... 1 predator to 300 prey units. So that means 1g of cleaners/snails for every 30g of other fish(considering you feed them) and I guess the same would go for plants VS fish. 30g of plants to 1g of fish. So your eventual biomass pyramid would look like

    1g snails ---> 30g fish/shrimp ---> 300g plants

    Not too sure if I'm making sense but I hope it helps

    I think the guidelines are relative to your filteration power. Bioloads of small tanks but with very efficient and matured filters can handle more then the recomended norm. Bacteria cultures, media mass and flow rate should be considered. Also consider fish behavior. Some fishes are territorial.
