    How to combat hair algae? I have a bit of it in my tank, not alot, but everytime I remove, it grows back within a week

    oto only eat brown algae, you need shrimp or SAE but more importantly does you plant grow healthy?

    I had the same problem once. and I decommission my entire tank. soak everything in bleach + water solution. including the wood, soil, everything!
    I also continue to let the filter to run since the hair algae is too resilient and can grow everywhere. so everywhere needs to be washed out with chlorine.
    I soak the entire tank to the brim. for at least 1 week.
    followed by draining and soaking in tap water to remove the chlorine from the wood and soil especially.
    I repeated this step twice. then use de-chlorination solution to ensure the tank is clear of chlorine.
    the bleach solution i used is 5L bleach with the rest water. my tank is about 4 ft.
    be sure that the water is free of chlorine before u introduce fish in again.
