My problem is that I got a new tank,a 29 gallon, and I have a dillema lighting it. The tank is 30 inches long and the lights that I want to get are 22 inches. The lights I'm getting are a 2 55watt light kit from AH Supply. I'm wondering if I should put the lights together in the middle or stagger them, like this(-_). I don't really know what to do. I don't even know if I will need that many watts. I don't really want to have a lot of pruning to do,but I won't mind a little, say every month or so,but maybe a little more frequently. Some of the plants I want to grow are Heternanthera Zesterfolia(sp?),Rotala Indica,Tropic Sunset Hygro,Didiplis Diandra, and others like them. I also am just going to use DIY co2. Thanks

You seem to have enough lights to grow just about anything. So that is not really an issue here. Staggering the lights is a good idea since it will distribute the lights more evenly, unless you find dark corners in your tank pleasing.
The CO2 produced from a DIY system may not be enough for a tank with this lighting levels. Keep the bioload low.

CK has got it right. You want an even coverage of light otherwise plants in the two corners will slant towards the light, very unsightly.

Strongly suggest a proper CO2 cylinder with solenoid.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.
