    Hi all

Want to rescape my new tank because I'm not happy with it now and thinking it might be better to do it while it's still early and before it becomes a bigger burden. Wondering where is good for ordering plants online. I came across Fresh N Marine, wondering if anyone can comment on the quality of their plants? They have most if not all the plants I want.

Also wondering how much sand I should get to cover the base of the aquarium. I'm not looking to plant anything in the substrate itself so I just want very thin layer because I want to keep some corydoras. Fresh N Marine got 2 sand i'm interested in, this GEX scenery sand river which is $5.50 per kg and ADA La Plata sand which is $16 for 2 kg. Anyone have experience with either product and can offer any comments? The ADA one costs quite a bit more so if really not much difference other than colour then I'll just go with the GEX one. My tank dimensions are 61x31x34, not sure how much sand is required.

    Thanks!

    Hi chickennublet,
for your first query, im not too sure as i usually go to the physical stores to look as im more of a see and buy kinda person.
But i think the quality should be there for most of the more reputable online stores. If not, look in facebook, there are quite abit of groups with privates home gardeners selling their wares.

the second query, to have a thin layer of sand in a 2 feet tank, i think there is no need to buy too much, around 2kg should suffice. My 2 feet barely used the 5kg black sand i bought for my last scape. But do take note, if you are going to have any wood in the tank, try not to get too light color sand, the sand will get "dirty" by the wood chippings.

    Hi simbk

Ok thanks! If 2kg is all I need then I will pull the trigger and go for the ADA sand.

Sand you gotta wash quite a number of times and also more time is needed to maintain it.

I got some ADA Colorado sand left from my setup, i think should be around 2kg or abit less, pm me if you are keen.
