Looks like your lotus is putting out surface leaves
My first attempt at planted tank (started on 9 Apr 05), not sure whether this is abnormal or strange but the red plant (dunno the name) in front of the drift wood is growing at an amazing or rather shocking rate, freaking my kids out. Comments?

Not really sure about the cost, bought together with some of the other plants in my tank, paid $10 for a bag. Find that Teo's plants rather nice with wide selection and price is very reasonable. They are very friendly and helpful, advises on suitability. Only negative point is, it's out of the way in ulu LCK.Originally Posted by yokogi

suxthumb, you might want to cut away the surface leaf, more leaves with grow towards the surface and in no time cover the surface, greatly reducing light penetration
Thanks for the advice, intend to do that later. However, is it "normal" for the lotus to have such fast growth rate? 1 feet in 2 days?Originally Posted by Simon
yes, its prefectly normal once your plants are establised. especially lotus/lily
woah. really nice looking. it must be pretty exciting to see how it grows. never know it can grow so fast as well, especiallt that single leave growing upwards
suxthumb,
That's a Queen of Siam water lily. As Simon said, the growth rate is normal... but it's ok as it's an easy plant to prune.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
I've experienced it with my banana plant. one of the leave keep growing till the length reach almost 3ft long than the leave start to open and enjoy light.
I will find the photo is possible, cos i trimed the leave last month.
how big is that tank? It seems like a lot of light for a tank.
Cheers,
Andrew

approx 3W/USG - should be ok, right?
The flower of Queen of Siam is really beautiful.
Just called Keong Seong and found out that they have no stock and Teo farm is so far away.
Does anybody know which LFS has stock now?
Cheers
