Back to planted after 4 years. 3ft with plants like anubias, java ferns, vals, tennellus, nana petite, crypt wendtii green & tropica.
Not decided on what fauna to keep but was considering a school of lamb chops, dwarf cories and shrimps.
With these plants, not adding co2. Weekly dosing will be lushgro ferts.

Day 1 so still abit hazy

    Cheers,

I have always wonder the purpose to using expensive light set with very high output then covering the tank surface with floaters to reduce the intensity of the light. Would have been nice to go with a dimmer light instead?

The maxspect was from a previous tank. And it is more than just a light with high output

The maxspect R is one of the slimmest and low profile LED in the market, but the control is limited to 2 channels. It has 6 time slots where you can program your own photo period and do a morning to sunset effect through intensity control. I use to import the 160W version, but some of my customers complained that the power draw is quite high > 200W. But the higher power output = more PAR at tank depth of 24".

I've stopped bringing them in however because they are a hard sell and mostly because it is more suitable for reef tanks. It's a niche market for this LED. I did bought some sets on Carousel over the years to use in my tanks for a fraction of the retail price, then resold them refurbished. So that gives you a general idea how much you tend to lose if buying them brand new. Some 2nd hand deals are really fantastic for these LEDs, keep a look out for them.

For plants like anubias, java ferns, vals, tennellus, nana petite, crypt wendtii green etc, just some 2nd hand low PAR $50 taiwan LEDs would do. But since TS already has Razor, might as well use it. Hope that clarifies.

I was lucky to get it from a reefer that was upgrading so only paid a fraction of the rrp.
Changed the reflector to 120 degree and good to go.
Previous tank was high light high tech but a lot of work.
For this tank, the custom tuning allowed it to be used for a low tech setup. Max intensity of 55% for a couple of hours only. The rest is gradual increases or decreases.

The floating plants seem to be getting in the way of the aquascape
