nice set up

Have been lurking around for the past 2 months & it was quiet, so I figured I would just share this for fun & a memo of what I did as well.
Roughly 2.5 weeks old, without using CO2.
Killed quite a handful of livestocks in the process though was too eager & I did not cycle the tank properly before adding livestocks in

Thanks bro, it's very ugly as I'm new to this.
So anyhow add everything together🤣 will do another one when I'm done learning on how to deal with all sorts of parameters, diseases, etc etc.
Any idea why I couldn't get my nitrate and nitrite levels to lower? It's pretty high according to the API 5 in 1 master test kit
Did a weekly WC 30% but seems like it isn't helping...
Cheers

Did u dose any fert?

For the first week I'm not too sure with the ferts so I dose Seachem Flourish accordingly to the recommended dosage.
Then, I tried not to dose anything to it & the plants were growing so well still. Up till now I'm not going to add any ferts till I notice slower plant growth.
Have been trying to grow some shrimps in the tank but they all die one by one due to the unstable water rip 10 firered & 5 amano
Hi bro,
Nice tank there! Mind to share your tank size?
Nitrite - Your tank may still be cycling.... or your "new" eco system couldn't manage the sudden increases of bioload
Nitrate - Unless your nitrate level is sky high, if not dont have to worry about it, your plants need them.
Hey bro TTerry,
Tank size: 60CM x 30CM x 36CM
Filter: Eheim Classic 250
Lights: BeamsWork Hi-Lumen 60
Another skimmer at the corner, forgot the brand
Soil: ADA Amazonia & Powersand(?)
Glass input & output pipes from online
Have been having mysterious shrimps & fish death, so I'm very concerned with it I'll be patient and wait for the water condition to stable before I do my next purchase of livestocks
Ada soil may take up to 1 or 2 month for cycle to complete.
The death of shrimp and fishes might be due to ammonia spiked. As for ur WC, what water was used? Tap water? Treated tap water? Aged water or RODI?

That could be it too as I was too eager with the livestocks, couldn't resist & added them in within the first week.
After all these incident, I'm going to sit back and let it cycle properly before I do anything next
Tap water are treated with Seachem Prime before I added them in.
Any other easy growing plants that I could add in my tank? TIA
Your scape will eventually be torn apart by your ranchu.
The red plant u have requires co2 and fert to stay red. And the foreground plant on the right o believe is not water plant

Thanks for your advice Bro genki89
The ranchu was found dead yesterday afternoon & I have removed 1 x angel fish.
The water plant seems to be growing well so far, should I remove it from the tank?
Dose Seachem Flourish once & I'm gonna let the water stabilised before I do anything next.
Are there any ferts or additional stuffs that I have to add in other than Flourish? TIA

This plant might not be aquatic. I am not 100% sure. Lets wait for the shifus to help. It might be similar plant to arrow head, root submerged leaves above water.
Rightfully, you may not need to dose any fert as ada soil contains many nutrients for the plants. You may require to start dosing fert after 6 months or so (still it depend on the plant growth in terms of co2 and lightings).

My Current Journals: Nano Diorama Aquascape | Nano Dutch Tank | Nano Ryoboku Tank | Nano Iwagumi Tank
[Currently 3.5 weeks old]
• Did some trimming to the floating hornwort and a few at the background
• Added a few drops of GH buffer & Seachem Paraguard
• A dose of Seachem Excel accordingly to the manufacture recommendation
The purple plant is starting to show signs of turning green. This is due to CO2 and fert deficiency? Will it do any harm to the plant?
• Tank is finally cycled! Parameters are:
Ammonia: 0
GH: 120
KH: 30
PH: 6.5
Nitrite, NO2: 0.5
Nitrate, NO3: 40
Currently I have, 5 assassin snails, 3 otos, 2 leopard cory, 2 cardinal tetras & 10-14 neon tetras.
Thinking of re-attempting to put in 10 Firered shrimps

Any idea how can I improve on this? TIA
