Just changed my aquarium filter from hob to canister filter and for about 2 weeks it keeps having a weird vibration motor humming noise which is pretty noisy whenever I want to enjoy looking at my tank. Are canisters filter suppose to be louder than my HOB filter? My HOB filter was pretty much silent and now I kinda regret changing to canister as I can’t stand this sound anymore please helppp... thanks!!

    Re: Humming Noise In Filter

    2 possible causes:

    1) Air in your filter is causing the noise. Rock your filter gently from side to side; you should see air bubbles coming out from your filter output. Stop rocking when no more bubbles come out.
    2) Impeller is not properly seated. Open up the filter and make sure the impeller is seated properly with no debris. Reassemble and try again.
    3) Faulty motor. Highly unlikely since it's a brand new unit but it can happen. Exchange for a new one.
