I decommissioned and sold off my previous 3 feet tank and moved to a smaller place a while back.
Spent about one year without a tank; then two weeks back, I had an idea of keeping a smaller one after browsing through UA’s blog at work.

Today is Day One. Will try to continue to update this post.

I’m planning to get more plants but they cannot be rooted ones. Any suggestions?

I have two stalks of bucep (dunno which species) that I got from Seaview. They look nice but are terribly expensive. Hopefully someone can point me to cheaper sources?

After scouting C328 today, I’m leaning towards moss on rocks and maybe wabi-kusa too.

Currently cycling with Stability. Wondering if I should put in fish cos I do have Prime.

Wow you have sharp eyes. I wanted to get Sudo Reef but went for a more clay-like colour instead.

On other ‘news’, someone with sharper eyes PM me about the background plants.

Had to remove those Peacock Fern, a pity since they have such nice textured fronds. I didn’t know it was not fully aquatic. Think I’ll do a little rescape and get Java Fern in place of it.

Nope, no chiller. And no CO2 too. I had both in a planted high tech 3 feet tank previously. Would be good to try something new and build up from that experience.

I’ll post more details soon; but the tank is 60x30x24cm. I wanted to get ANS one but they don’t come in such size so I went for the normal glass instead.

Tank is still cycling with 0.25 ppm nitrites and 5.0 ppm nitrates.
Fishless cycle for now. Trying my best not to get any fish yet.

I tend to stock oto cats first in my tanks. Anyone does things similarly?

Sudo bottom is a good choice. Peacock Fern is readily available in LFS, especially Seaview. I see alot of newbies buying them together with tank setup, small filters etc. I usually tell them, but they ignore me. So can't be help.

Your LED is TOP aqua or UP aqua? If it is, do share your photo period since not much plant mass.

I bought some Java Fern and also added xmas moss plus a wabi-kusa. Not sure what plant it is but I suspect it’s Hydrocotyle Tripartita.

Should I space the plants out abit? I’m not good at scaping nor predicting plant growth.

I will try spread the word now that I’ve learnt an important lesson (no wonder people there had this grin, dang!)

I’m not sure about the lights. Will have to check the box. Photoperiod is 6 hours. I’m afraid to go higher.

I’ve checked the lights: it’s Up Aqua ZX series 60cm for planted tank. My photoperiod is from 6pm to midnight. I’ve mostly slow growers; is the light too strong? Should I decrease the photoperiod?

It’s Day 5 and test for nitrite read 0 ppm. Nitrates at 5-10 ppm. Will wait a few days before getting lifestock. Stocking shall be gradual, starting with algae crew first.

    Otos or cherry shrimps?

Added more plants a few days back: cryptocoryne wendtii and bolbitis.

It’s in the sand at the back of the tank, and (expectedly) not doing well. I may remove them soon and add some plants else.
