Shows the rostrum shape quite clearly
Been doing some research lately to try and ID this species of local shrimp. Doesnt look like the macrobrachium lanchesteri(?) found at the other areas around there i've been netting shrimps at. At first glance it seemed like Caridina malayensis with the dots on the body but Caridina malayensis seems to have a differently shaped rostrum. Found this report on aquatic creatures found at Kranji marsh and it seems that the shrimps I caught look similar to the Caridina johnsoni in the report. Can anyone help to confirm the species of this shrimp? Currently keeping a small population of a few males and a number of berried females. Also have quite a lot of shrimplets/larvae as well. Thanks in advance

Looks like Caridina gracilirostris (red nose shrimp) to me.

Seems to me that the rostrum is too short and isnt pointed though. Might be Caridina propinqua as well but I doubt it as they are a brackish species.
Just a quick update, the shrimps have been identified as Caridina johnsoni by an expert in the field.
