I got 13 of them from C328 and look very nice and I was also told by another bfs that flame-back breeding heart are the same species as normal ones and just specially selected ones which is more red on the back/spine, is it true?

    Re: breeding heart tetra

There are far too many common names used in the hobby, and they don't map properly onto actual species/populations. Only people who are familiar with tetra taxonomy can help you out (and I'm afraid I'm not one of them).

Usually the distinguishing features are anatomical features (differences in skeletons, body tissue sizes, markings that are retained after alcohol preservation, etc). And you need very clear photographs, or even full dissections, to observe those.

Hope someone can help you more.
