    Hi folks,

I am far from new to planted aquariums or aquatic plants, but new to this group. I am the author of the book, Sunken Gardens, and have been involved in planted aquariums for over 50 years, lecture and write regularly on the subject and have studied plants in the wild in many places around the world. My friend, Tom Barr, mentioned this forum as a good one, so I thought I'd stop by and get to know it for myself! I always love to learn new things from new friends!

    Hi Krandall,

    Welcome on board!

It is so great to have you here in this forum! I have read your book, "Sunken Gardens". It is widely available in all Singapore National Libraries. Very useful information and a great reference for planted tank hobbyists! (Y)

Oh, wow, hello Karen, welcome to the forum!

I was just having coffee with Kwek Leong and Ronnie yesterday, and KL was talking about old times with mosses and the AGA and he mentioned you. So glad that you're here! I'm not good with plants myself (I'm a fish-first person), but it's still super cool you're here.

The forum has become a lot quieter than it used to be - everyone seems to have migrated to Facebook or something. Anyway I've put word out.

    Cheers
    Bufeng

    Re: Introduction

There are many easy plants for beginners, but some that work well in a low light tank without supplemental CO2 are Anubias, Cryptocoryne (especially varieties of wendtii), Java fern, Water sprite. Those work will in almost any tank, and there are several different leaf forms of Java fern and Anubias, which can give you quite a bit of variety, even with just these few plants. Beyond these, we'd need to know more about your water, light and substrate to advise well.

Thank you for that information. Very helpful. I'll check out those plants but I may have to buy a different substrate as currently using pea shingle.
