It is not about the tolerance. It is about the sudden drop in temperature.

Within 24hrs, if your tank are mature/stabilised, any changes should take time. If your temperature hover around 30 most of the time, you should attach the chiller and run it at 28.

Slowly reduce the temperature over a period of time. By reducing the temperature from 30 to 25 within hours, it is the same as buying a new pack of shrimp and dump it straight into your tank

At this point i already lower the temperature to 28 degreeC. should i gradually decrease the temp? hope they 'll get through this for my mistake.

Wait for some time and observe.

Once your shrimp settle, usually by their behaviour and colour, u may want to reduce 1 degree every 24-48 hours.

If your tank has been running at 25 for the past 24 hrs and u switch back to 28, u are actually stressing them again...

I will suggest not to do anything beyond this point and observe. Reduce the temperature couple of days later by 1 degree each time until your desired temperature.

Assuming u will need to reach 25 from 28, I reckon 1 week. You are lucky it is RCS, if it is CRS/cardinals, your tank would probably be 1/2 or lesser than your current shrimp populations.

Not to worry, mistakes are part of growing. Happy shrimp keeping

Can upgrade to CRS liao. Sell your RCS and buy CRS. Dont waste chiller on such cheap shrimp.I think cardinals hate chiller they're from tropical sulawesi anyway.

Small tank, hard to hold parameters stable. What were you expecting?
