Hi all, been exploring planted tanks during this CB. I have a 60x30 (2ft) tank I am trying to carpet without CO2.

I am exploring the option of using Java/Christmas moss, and have mesh ready to secure the moss.

Are there other plants I can explore?

If I want to carpet the entire floor of the tank, do I have to buy enough moss to cover the entire tank's floor, or can I just buy a small portion and it will grow to fill up horizontally?

You could initially get mesh and tie java moss sparingly and use diy CO2 using sugar water and yeast connect to airstone until whole tank carpet with the moss. Java moss grows like weed under favourable condition. Then gradually stop CO2 once carpet is full.

Great!. I've planted dwarf hair grass too, But I think my light was too intense. I hardly saw any growth and the plants just turned yellow and came off the substrate.

I was told that for dwarf hair grass, chances are that they will turn yellow initially, but if you leave the roots in, new leaves will grow.

Not really, mine just rot underneath the substrate. Every time I vacuum the substrate, the dead roots just came off.
