Good tank setup.
But GEX bio sand is not inert. It lowers PH. I used it on my 3 feet tank.
Small tanks like this will have PH swing, can't be help.
For neocaridina shrimp, recommendation is to use sand.
Hi guys, I'm fairly new to the hobby and have a nano planted tank for red cherry shrimp, and was wondering if any of you can help figure out my problem.
I am having issues with low PH of about 5.90 - 6.10 in my tank, even though I have started using distilled water and remineralizing with Salty Shrimp Mineral GH/KH+ (about 180 TDS). I was previously using lowkeys reminineraliser but i think this was screwing up the PH.
When I test the remineralised water, PH is over 8. But once added to the tank after water change, in a few days my tank water is back to the low 6.
Some background info on the tank:-
Substrate - Gex Best Bio Sand (I believe this is inert)
Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrates = 0
GH = >7
KH = 3
CO2 injection - only 2 hours a day, 1 bubble per 3 seconds.
Fertiliser = 1 drop of Tropica Specialised Nutrition every other day
It's fairly well planted, with a pic attached.

Do you think I should up my water changes to 15% twice a week? Thanks all!

Thanks for taking the time to reply! That explains alot. Looks like I will try to increase pH manually with mineral balls etc for now and see how it goes
