    everybody hates riccia!
only reason i hate it is it can't stick so to anything yet end up everywhere...[filter skimmer-rots inside canister, mosses etc]
the opposite off mosses, bolbitis and anubias which glue themselves to rock, wood or bg..

i want to add glosso because i'm a failure at it.

recently discovered why. duh. if want to plant glosso, have to be vegetarian tank for 3-4 weeks? absolutelty no bottom feeders!
my cory's and discus always dig everything up...duh...

If you want to thoroughly get rid of your riccia, one very simple method is to add H2O2. About 2ml per gallon everyday during lights on. The riccia as well as plants with thinner leaves will die off. At this conc, your livestock should be fine, even the shrimps. And remember to remove any marimo balls before dosing.
Oh, the rare old Whale, mid storm and gale. In his ocean home will be. A giant in might, where might is right. And King of the boundless sea.

    Wink

    hates:
    · riccia - too high maintenance. Yamato shrimps pulled them all overnight.
    · hygropilla defformis - somebody told me that it looks like a tomato plant submerged in water (kinda true...). it also tends to over crowds the tank too.

    likes:
    · anubias nana – the first plant I’ve ever tried (placed in my small betta tank). Until now the plant is still in good shape. Though very slow growing, I still like this plant. It’s very undemanding and yet pretty.
    · rotala rotundofolia - very nice pinkish leaves and easy to maintain too.
    · xmas moss - nice foliage and successfully propagate a few strands into a nice tuft
    · glossostigma - really a creeping beauty. Not easy to plant/maintain but so far doing great in my tank. Effort rewarded.

    likes but failing me (why?):
    · hair grass (slow growth, some are being uprooted)
    · Micranthemum micranthemoides (initially it was okay but after pruning them, many of its leaves start melting)

Likes: All Crypts, US Fissidens, Barclaya longifolia, Blyxa japonica, Spiky/Peacock moss

Dislike: Java moss (don't like the messy growth habit), Cabomba (i think they're worse than riccia when it comes to dropping leaves ), Duckweed (hate the MOST)

Love-Hate (= love, but trying not to start hating ): Limnophila aromatica (grows so darn fast), rotala rotundifolia (grows ver fast and leggy in my tanks ), Cyperus helferi (gorgeous, but a regular staghorn magnet in my tank).

Loves: Crypts [because they're so damn easy to grow well]. Ludwigia Glandulosa and Repens [stunning and grow well in my tank]. Echinodorus Uruguayensis and Rubin [naturally beautiful and make little demands].

Hates: Gymnocoronis Spilanthoides [bottom half of leaves always drop off]. Egeria Densa [and any other cabomba type things, literally takes over within a week].

Loves/Hates: Java fern [i love it but it doesnt thrive]. Anubias [i love it aswell, but again it seems to be dieing off on me - i thought that was impossible huh]. Eleocharis Parvula [and any other HG due to the fact it never stays rooted grrrr. I plant too deep it dies, i plant it too high and it just floats up - how do you make it live!!!!]

Hmmmm. i may start a tank just to practice keeping plants in. I suck at getting them to grow. Jervis, teach me

Mosses - always fail me, but I've not given up on them yet.
Heh heh....similar, but I have an easier time with mosses...

I absolutely hate duckweeds and most floating plants...maybe because they get drawn under by my powerful water current and get stuck in other plants, then get drowned....
