Set up on Sunday, no shrimps yet. Should I wait for a week?
OK, getting my 30 cm cube tank tomorrow. Plan to do aquascape and some shrimps, my first try. Very basic set up, HOB filter, white LED light, substrate and plants. Let is stabilize for at least a week, then add shrimps.
Now, question is what plants and of course they must be easily available here in Singapore. No plan for exotics, expensive type because they probably won't survive. Any recommendation would appreciate. I know youtube has plenty but they are mainly overseas. Not sure we got them here. I was told crystal red shrimp is the base to try first. I kind of like them and would be happy to try them out. Clementi is the most recommended location to source. Please give your suggestion and once I have the tank up, I will post some photos.
Thank you

Ok, just added 8 CRS and 1 snail. Unfortunately, the snail seems dead on arrival. Didn't move at all. The 8 CRS seem good and active. However, this morning, saw 1 dead.
Not sure the reason but will continue to monitor before adding any more.
After slightly more than a week, can only find 5 shrimps. Wonder if they are hiding or gone. Not sure if I am under or over feeding since the pellets sank and you don't know where they go. Would the shrimp be able to find them?
I’m still a beginner too. But I heard that crystal red shrimps are very sensitive to the water parameters. So they are actually good for beginners. If they are dying it’s highly possible that your water parameters are not right. Have you tested your water?
You may want to try cherry shrimps next instead. More suitable for beginners 😅
Cherry is the total red colour one right? OK, maybe mix them. OK to have more red if they cross breed. Haha
What is the reasonable cost for cherry shrimp? Of course I am not referring to the best quality type. And the size I should get? So far I bought around 1 to 1.4 cm. 4 for $10 at Clementi
Just add 10 red shrimps and 2 snails. Let's monitor for a few days. Will post photos
Ok, the red shrimps are doing fine. The snails are also doing fine. I think it is quite stable liao. Bought a feeding tube with a dish. I think it works better than letting the pellets floating and dropping all over the tank.
thumbnail.jpgIt is an addiction, once you add or adjust, you keep wanting to do something about it. Must learn to hold and let it settle more first. Today, my CRS left 2. I die this morning. Look like the 2 are the survival
Great share of your new tank set up.
Makes me wanna get started too!
Keep it going pal!
Happy CNY.
Ok, they seem to know the routine, morning waiting at the 'drop out' tube for food. I counted 10 red but 1 CRS. So looks like red is the one if you are the beginner. BTW, I have not done any water change so far, just top up about 1.5 liter 3 times due to evaporation. Plants are doing well too
Crs is crystal red shrimp. Yours suppose to be rcs, Red cherry shrimp?

After 1 month, decide to rearrange and make it less clutter up. Also time to change water. Collected some rain water. Notice the last CRS is gone. The 10 cherry red shrimps are doing fine. Found 4 babies too. Will upload a photo of my new layout later
