Could you share on how you avoid algae esp BBA from appearing? ThanksOriginally Posted by BPT
I have recently added a 2X36W PL lamp to my already existing 36W PL resulting in 108W and noticed that BBA is beginning to form on the back and also the highest part of the driftwood. The lighting is full 108W for 3 hours and 72W for 5 hours. Recently adjusted to 108W for 1 hour and 72W for 7hours. Still observing if the BBA situation would worsten.
I think 30-40 or so yamato shrimps should do the trick. In my opinion, I feel that they have the most vorocious appetite for anything edible, including glosso I think
Bryan: 110W over a 60L tank is like 7W/g. Is it necessary?
Even if you are able to control the nutrient levels to prevent algae, you could have achieve the same results with lesser light. Save on electricity.

Juggler's tanks
oops i didnt post update here... but in af i said that i would scrap the idea. i was thinking that with 55w the glosso was growing at very nice speed and everything but i was thinking of like trying out something just as an experiment.

Balanced nutrient and high CO2 will keep most algae away. Cause for BBA is mainly lack of CO2, not the light. I never have BBA with this setup, only few spot algae on glass. My lighting is the Matrix with Dymax bulbs, comes with 2x55W. I'd choose less if I could for electricity as Juggler said .Originally Posted by cairocks
