Hi, I have a 3 weeks old non co2 low maintenance tank with just a huge piece of driftwood with some java moss tied to it. Notice that as time pass by, the driftwood starts to develop more and more dandruff-like specs distributed evenly through out the entire wood. Is it just dust or is it somethin else? any one knows>?

yup, its looks abit mouldy... grey colour flakes and it comes off. in fact it looks exactly like dust, but I'm puzzled how dirt gets into the water and lands on my driftwood? the bioload is just 5 tetras.. I just hope it is not algae... unfortunately i dun have the pictures..

It might be fungus. Go to

    http://www.floridadriftwood.com/aqua..._driftwood.htm

and scroll to the bottom, there is a short peice on driftwood fungus there. It's harmless, I had them once, looked like bits of cotton wool floating around. I added platies, and they ate them.
