It's not avoiding the light. Now that there is more light, it does no have to grow taller to get enough light, and is using the chance to spread outwards.
I like this trait... you can use it to create a very lush mid ground bush.
Hi,
my tank is 460x260x270mm, lights are 2x36 watts mounted on a stand which is about 8cm from the water.
Previously, i was using 2x15watts fluroscent, my rotala sp green were over hanging mildly. Since the change to a higher wattage (not to mention algae issues), the rotala green seems to "bend" downwards even more, in a manner somewhat avoiding the light. Therefore, is this behavious normal? My other plants are growing upright though. But i do remember Riccia turns into sinking Riccia in the presence of highlight?
whats your take?

Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
hmmm, i was trying to get it like Norbert's effect but guess i have to try and trick those plants into acting other wise.
thats probably the first time i have seen my plants behaving this way. they are actually heading for the gravel too.
thanks lots Vinz
Are the light colours the same? I have read that different colour lights can cause plant to react differently.

Hey BC,
im using the Elbiru Pl tubes for my 2x36 lighting. Previously, i was using daylight temp FL tubes. I highly doubt that it is the light colour but rather as a reaction to a increased intensity of light.
I tried using only one 36watt tubes for the whole day yesterday. However, only 3-4 stalks grew "straight" again. The glosso also grew slight up.
Wonder how people who do the 3-day blackout, adjust their scape thereafter?
