Diy mini acrylic light set

Hi guys,
just sharing a standing light set i fabricated for my nano crab tank.
5 smd 1w warm white leds soldered in parallel with no circuits or resistors since i dont know anything about electronics. Powered by 2 D sized batteries instead of a DC adapter as i only switch it on during occasional viewing. The entire structure is made from clear acrylic. Didnt have a step by step pictorial, was too excited building it haha.

The tank is 10x5x3 inches. Don't think it would be suitable for a planted setup haha

Looks very nice and pro. Is the tank built from acrylic? you have cheap source for acrylic?

Yup tank is acrylic. My only sourcs of acrylic sheets and tubes are artfriend and a hardware shop at serangoon called Hai Chew, they sell cheap acrylic sheets.

You can find artfriend at clementi, its the same building as ntuc. Or bras basah complex

my glass tank(wall mount) had several crack. need to get a replacement glass/acrylic tank (3ft by 4inch by 10 inch). kindly advice to use glass or acrylic. would be helpful if could pm me on pricing as well..

Hi I have no experience with large acrylic tanks but I know that it would scratch much easier compared to glass and also cost more to custom. I would choose glass over acrylic

Hi I use a syringe with a needle tip to apply the solvent. You can get them from pharmacy. Best to get a 1ml syringe if you are not bonding large pieces. Just remember not to leave the solvent in the syringe after use. Hope this helps
