    My fish gave birth!
Just came back and found some fry swimming around!!

I'm not sure what my fish is (duh), got them from one of the fishshop in Farmart and they look like guppies, only with big round tummies and round bodies. Have tried in vain to find out the name. Anyone have any idea?

Anyway, what am I supposed to do now? Have removed all adult fish. There are about 5-6 fry, lying around the gravel recuperating. Have a plant tied to a piece of driftwood; can the fry get food from there? Otherwise what must I feed them?

Any advice will be most appreciated. Thanks!

YES!!!!! Thanks for the lead!!! Had a search around and found that
they were pot belly mollies, or balloon mollies. =)

actually, most people just leave the parents in with the fry
for livebearers, they mostly leave their kids alone
feed them normal dry food, flake
their bigger size usually means they can take get by on the scraps instead of feeding exclusively on 'fry food'
having lots of plants helps too, because they scavenge off things living in the plants, especially mossy plants

Try feeding frozen daphnia, that way, everyone in the family can eat.

    Hello!

Thanks for your advice. Actually I'm getting conflicting information about
mollies...some websites/people say the adult mollies will eat fry, some (like yourself) say the adult won't. Hmm...... My own observation is that the adult mollies are not really interested in the fry as food....on the occasion that an adult took notice of the fry the fry usually swim away at super speed. =)

I just found out that I have a baby snail as well? Where did that come out from? The driftwood with plant???

Daphnia are flea-like water micro-organisim. They are visible to the eyes when you look real close.
Since they are real small, they are great food for all fish though I had yet to feed them to fish fry before. Most fish loves them.

As for Brine Shrimps, my understanding are they are some funny looking saltwater shrimps that won't survive long in freshwater tank.
Whether the fish likes it or not, I am not too sure as my fish doesn't seems to like them. They prefer worms.

since this is not discus... well..

ninjafly has already explained what daphnia and bbs are. HAI!

To get them, let me see... just ask the store owner for frozen daphnia lor. Comes in the same package as frozen bloodworm.

One method which is quite traditional, tubifex worms, crush them or chop em' up and throw into the tank. Every fish loves it....

    Daphnia = water fleas

tubifex worms must be "wash" clean.
