Hardy fish

Anyone able to recommend a fish that is hardy for a tank that is put in the balcony??

any fish will do, unless you're planning for a tank that's going to be in the sun cooking all day, no filtration etc.. so exactly what are you planning on that tank?

If there are no other fishes you will be introducing, get a packet of feeders sword fish for $1 and watch them multiply by the days...

Let's take my balcony as an example....

It's has no electrical point, gets a lot of sun and often an area that's at the back of my mind.

If it's under these circumstances, then I would put plants like ferns, hornwort and frog bits inside. As for fishes, I would consider any labyrinth fish like bettas or gourami. Alternatively, I would also consider guppies. These fishes are hardier and can survive without filtration and water change for quite sometime.

I am not sure about the fancy guppies. They are very prone to diseases.

Green water might also be a tricky problem though I have seen some balcony tanks which have water crystal clear. Anyone have any thoughts about that?

Hmm... I have had gold fish, mollies, loaches etc at my service balcony... Not much luck... Not much luck with plants too... 1 electrical point, though, so I have an overhanging filter... Got luck with some huge rasboras, though... got them cheap when they are small, looked like they will stay small but they turn up to be big-eyed-plant-and-everything-else-eating-monsters that grow to more than 8" long 2 years on... Very active but skittish though... Good for such tanks where no other fish or even plants will thrive... Can find them small at shops, they look like Rasbora Borapetensis , red and black tail, think there's red line on silver body. Not tetra, but rasbora, no teeth one... Am thinking of firemouths or convicts to accompany them now...

you probably have one of the tin-foil barbs. very few rasbora reaches 8" long.

Confirm not tin-foil bards... Mine are slender... They look like Rasbora Borapetensis with a red and black tail and a gold bar across the body...

just get those super tough fishes...but i admit they not so nice..lol.. like ikan sepat or ikan betoh....lol

will be getting lots of sun. small one foot tank with an atman pump .... thinking of a humid tank with plants and fishes... amazon style maybe...swampy enviroment... juts toying with an idea and hope that can be used later as referance for others who wanna do it also
