    Hi Everyone,

I'm getting excited that my new custom made 3ft x 1.5ft x 1.5ft tank with cabinet is arriving this Sat. My intention is to setup as a planted tank, here are the accessories that I'll be using:

    1) 3ft x 1.5ft x 1.5ft open tank with cabinet
    2) 20kg brown gravel(JBJ)
    3) Dennerle Deponit Mix 120L
    4) 2 sets of 3ft Maqnum II 2 x 36W
    5) JEBO external canister filter, 1000L/hr
    6) 3L CO2 cylinder with soleniod
    7) CO2 5bio ball reactor
    Surface skimmer
    9) All other roots and water fertelizers(Fe, K2SO4, MgSO4*7H2O, Florena)

Need your comment on the setup. And what type of fishes would you recommend. As for plants, I've decided to have Glosso for my foreground and give me your recommendation for what other plants to start with. Although I'm not new to planted tank but definitely know nothing much about the name of the plant. Would appreciate if you can attached picture, if not, it is ok. I can search the web for pictures. Thanks.

    Regards,
    Kevin Lee

    Here's an article on Glosso.

I'd say get a better reactor, like the one from NA.
About your ferts, omit Fe? Iron makes up very very very little of a total plant's mass. Where are your nitrates and phosphates?

Please advise which reactor from NA. I've told Mr Chan about the reactor I'm using and he said it is good enough.

Can't you elaborate more about the fertiliser? So no need Fe is it? What about nitrates and phosphates?

Use the external reactor that Mr Chan sells, if not, the ceramic diffuser placed near a filter outlet is very good too.

About the fertilizers (Fe, K2SO4, MgSO4*7H2O, Florena)? Terrence is probably referring to nutrients (NPK etc) which the plants requires more in dosage. Get a fertilizer with macro nutrients from Mr Chan.

If you are a all-new-hobbyist, stick to easy-to-use products first before you venture into more detailed dosing discussed in the other sub forums. Gain confident and some nice growth before you go deeper.

How much is a external reactor? How effective is it? Need any supporting accessory?

Please call the shop for price enquiries.

Depending on how fussy you are regarding efficiency percentage, both are actually as good to me.

External Reactor saves you the space in tank over putting Internal reactors. Some people might not like to see the tiny bubbles created by a ceramic diffuser. You decide.

The supporting accessory needed will be a external filter that is reasonably strong enough to push the water through the reactor with moderate speed.

Haha, that is purely up to you. If you just want healthy plants and not focus on the aquascape, get easy-growing plants. If you're into aquascaping, then you need to plan your design and get the plants accordingly.

    Thanks.

Yes, would like to setup as an aquascape. Only thought of having glosso in the foreground, any suggestion on the mid & back ground?
