I have recently done alot of research on misters:

Big Apple Herpetological has the cheapest ($109), (http://www.bigappleherp.com/Reptile_...em_296200.html)

I bought a Rainmaker Jr from HerpSupplies.com ($175.00), (http://www.herpsupplies.com/product.cfm?id=RMJRMSK). The system seems to be top notch, but the owner (Eric) is the real selling point. He is very knowledgeable, and will spend hours on the phone to help you with whatever questions or ploblems you may have.

Also check out the promist system ($179.95), (http://www.pro-products.com/promistproducts.html)

For large greenhouse type enclosures checkout Ecologic Technologies (http://www.cloudtops.com/) they also have smaller misting systems too.

For hydra-stat or humistat check out green-air products at HerpSupplies.com they will turn your mister on and off according to the humidity levels of the environment, instead of just a timer.

I am in the process of installing the rainmaker system right now. I'll let you know how it does.

By the by the habbamister ($40 roughly) is very loud, and it produces a spray not a mist but it may work depending on the environment you are using.

    Fog system

    Hi.
The mist system is to increase the humidity and to provide water to the emerse plants?
What is bether? Fog System or a mist system?
    Thank you.

    fog vs mist

    Hi vitorhugof,

Both will increase humidity. Fog generally stays on the bottom of the enclosure, and often stays local to the water source. You must have a water section or decent sized bowl for a fog system to work. I have found foggers to provide more of an asthetic benefit than a humidifying one. A misting system will fill the enclosure with mist. I have alot for geckos who are dew drinkers, so mist settling on bromeliads, and leaves is perfect for me. If you require extremely high humidity and ventilation you need to misting system. Misiting systems are much better at creating/maintaining tropical environments, but they are pricier. But if you got the bucks you can create your own little meteorlogical system. I am using a rainmaker jr (misting system), paired with a green-air hydrostat, and a 40mm fan to build my newest vivarium. The hydro-stat turns on the mister when the humidity gets too low and turns on the exhaust fan when it gets too high. I hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Mark

    Re: Mist maker

Hey guys, I know the thread is dead, but I have been selling High quality mist makers for years. I have a ton of videos on youtube showing everything from the different sizes in use, to how to build a humidifier, or use them in a fish tank. Here's one showing a five head mist maker in operation. The best size for a tank is a 3 or a five head.

    Hope this helps some,
    john

I disagree for sure! The models I sell will run for years.

The 5 disc model in this video is well over 3 years old, and runs 16 hrs a day!

    Stay Foggy,

I am a user! :-) My whole store is filled with them, and I'm also growing peppers and lettuce at my home.

    John Broadhead,

I reckon you did not read up the rules of the forum.

    #8 is not allowed.

All sales talk should be done in the market place.

    Kindly take note.

    Clancysg,

like what 2ringcreatures mentioned, you may want to consider Mistking as they are the only brand available locally.

Drop by GC and i believe the team of guys there would be more than glad to help you in making an informed decision.

    Regards.
