why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Interesting..
They were all from the same tank and sold as one type...
Had the impression that they were available in Singapore from http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ad.php?t=12977.
I supposed feral in that case meant returned to wild rather than locally available wild species.
So how can we get a positive ID?
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
First one should be Nomorhamphus liemi
The FISH GURU has spoken!!! It shall be changed!!!Originally Posted by MrTree

feral means ESCAPED to the wild (since return implies they were originating from there), although technically it also refers to domesticated population that returned to the wild, e.g. feral population of Betta splendens in Thailand.Originally Posted by benny

Feral means an introduced and established species. Not escaped..
By the way Benny, I'm still wondering how a female Halfbeak can be sold with a female Aplocheilus lineatus.

Same same lah, as long as they become established populations in the wild then all are feral. Just like our stray cats and dogs.
Not just amazing.. its MIND-boggling.

I still looking for feral wild-looking male lineatus. in fact I am looking for feral wild-looking species of platies, mollies and Gambusia.

Bad news on the lineatus. The kids said a tree fell into the area where they usually caught the lineatus and it practically blocked access to the usual place where the lineatus were always hanging around at.
Feral wild-looking specimens you can find in those feeder fish tanks. The standard molly is almost always silvery to dusky grey in colour. As for the Gambusia, you can find them in the drains but its not easy to differentiate them from the guppies at first glance.

any idea where that place is?
those feeders I get all have red red mollies and platies leh

You mean the lineatus locality? I'm not sure. The boys won't reveal where it is. Probably somewhere in the Bukit Timah area.
As for the feeders, some of the shops still stock on those longkang-type Poecilia sphenops aka Common Molly. I still see them occasionally in the shops near my house and also at C328. Their feeder tank almost always has some feeder mollies and Gambusias.
The Gambusia.. I have to ask my cousins. There's a location in the Bukit Gombak area though I'm not sure where. Only they know where it is.
