Please don't do it! Have a heart for the people around you be it your family or neighbours. If the mosquito gets out for some reason and worst if it is of some spiecies that spread dengue, you had it. DON'T DO IT!

Better not take the risk to breed mosquito larva. Some may escape and breed havoc elsewhere.
Why not try breeding some kind of rice or grain weevils? I have been doing that for the last half year and these insects require little care. They don't fly and so can't escape from the containers. My Rainbow Fish and Harlequin Rasbora loved them.

Even if you can ensure that mosquitoes will not escape, I am wondering what you will feed the mosquito with???

How do you breed them? Would pencil fish eat them? My pencils are not eating the pellets that I am giving them and I do not want to try hatching brime shrimps yet, so if this is an easier way I would like to try it.Originally Posted by juggler

The weevils are those tiny little black beetles that sometimes appear in bags of rice. All they require is a small container with some bits of dry rice and some wood shavings. Give them a source of moisture and they will multiply over time.
A|X, I know how good mosquito larva is as a food item for the fish, but if you get caught for breeding mosquitoes, the fine isn't a good thing to look at.
Fish.. Simply Irresistable

I used a different variety of weevil. Sorry don't know the name.
They are slightly bigger than the rice weevils. Moves faster too. I use Lotus Seed (Lian Zi) as food for them. There is a larva stage where we can see the little maggots crawling.

Juggler, if you could, please post up the image of the weevil if possible.
I know there's several types of rice weevils but the ones I usually encounter are small and harmless. Probably might try culturing them since fruit flies are classified as agricultural pests. Good alternative I think since you say your rasbora loved them.
Hmm.. I wonder if Boraras would eat these weevils too.
