    Hello guys,

Went to buy a pack of feeders today for my lobster, and saw this unknown fish. Does anyone know what this is?

    http://uncleparty.com/unknownfish/

they're about an inch and a half long, have big heads with big mouths, eyes, and gills, and *seem* to be able to breathe from the surface (and make bubbles). in still water, they either float to the surface or play dead at the bottom. body wriggles like a loach when swimming.

That's a snakehead, Channa sp.. Perhaps Choy can give a more specific name?...

Please note that if your lobster did not eat it, it will compete with the lobster for the feeders and eventually grow to eat the lobster... Please do NOT throw away the fish into our water systems. No matter how non-native our fish is, it is better than just snakeheads...

Another note... Why is there a need to feed live fish to lobsters? They can do well with sinking pellets or frozen food...

    Thanks all for the help.

Justikanz: i use feeders when im gone on long trips (usually 2-3weeks plus at a time). other tanks are on an automatic feeders, but not this one. usually, the platy or goldfishes are really terrible on the water, noticed this one's much cleaner for them to chomp. oh yeah, there're two terrapins in there too.

Just dun let the fish have a chance to grow... They can take food as big as themselves... Your lobster and terrapins might be in danger if the snakehead gets big enough... Cheers!

texture of soon hock flesh not really suitable for slicing as it is quick "flaky" and tender. that's why the best is steam or deepfried whole.

Haha... Why is this turning to a cooking thread? Yes, Soon Hock too flaky...

Btw, if his lobster not very big, the channa can eat it when it reaches the same size anytime leh...

Haha, welcome to singapore, where everything revolves around food.. Lol
Speaking of which, i tried going to that TPY 83 Cod fish restaurant. Bloody crowded, 2hr wait? I walked away..

We should start a resty selling only snakehead related dishes. Who volunteer to buy a bag of feeder channa now and pump them up?
