guys, is aeration necessary in planted tanks with tetra as main fishes? I've seen people whose tanks got no aeration but others said aeration is necessary.

    Any advise/comments? Thanks!

Planted tanks need no aeration as the plants will provide the oxygen.
Find a balance so as not to over-stock your tank with tetras.

aeration as in put "air stone"??
no need air stone as air stone will make co2 loss faster.....

as mentioned, the plants will provide O2 for the fishes.....until u see ur tetras gasping near the water surface, then u'll know that there's insufficient O2 in the water

If your bioload is light (which it should be) then aeration via air pump will not be necessary as explained above.

But if bioload is very heavy, then an air pump that turns on when the CO2 is cut off and turns off an hour before the lights come on will be a good idea. This can be done via a second timer.

I use to have an air pump running this way. CO2 loss was managable. But algae management was tedious. Have since cut the bioload.

Just to play safe, if you make any changes to the CO2 output. Better keep a watch on your fishes whether are they graping for air. Last time when I DIY CO2 that time, it happen to my fishes. Luckly got see and put in an air stone else I think I can kiss them all good bye liao
For good or for ill, I will walk on the path chosen by none but myself.
