Yes, if you give the plant what it needs to grow well. A tree will always be a tree.

There is no idiot qn. This is beginner's corner.

Btw, in term of size it will grow big. I dont think the height will be out of tank (it depends, some Echin do). Even the size has its limitation because the plant may dwarf due to its environment. You never know as you can cultivate the plant to grow small by constant cutting or trimming. Like asian Bonzai. Hope it helps...

Yes, you can control the height of some plants, esp the stemmed ones, by constant trimming... But there will be a couple of problems in the long run... They tend to grow slower and even be stunted permanently and they will grow thicker, with many side stems growing from the same cut point...

Some other plants will just grow and grow... Vallis will grow new leaves to compensate those you trimmed and Swords will just grow on, regardless of tank size!... \

    Anyway, just have fun...

    Hi curahee,
Head on down to Gratiola, look at the tank with the E. osiris. It will grow no matter what your tank size is.
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.

Given enough root space, the echinodorus will grow out of your tank with emerse leaves.
