IMO,
crs is more difficult as compare to the cherries.
But if you condition of your tank is good, you should have no problem and it can even breed.

what is a crystal shrimp?
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

hmm .... last time i buy 2 crystal red... at $10 each
then i found 1 crystal red body..
the other still gone missing.............
i rather not touch cRystal red shrimps..
i juz be content with my cherries..
I Doesnt haVe GReen HAIr NoR orANGE bodY. DOnT chOP mE likE A cARroT !!
I think he meant crystal red.
Oops... Yes, Crystal Red Shrimps...
Crystal red shrimps is definately more demanding then cherry shrimps.
Cherry shrimps can do well in water temperature achieved by a fan. Crystal red shrimps can just barely survive at that temperature. It needs lower temperature at around 25C to have optimal color, growth and spawn.
Beside water temperature, CRS requires much better water quality then Cherry.
My CRS tank parameters are:
PH: 6.8 to 7.0
Temperature: 24 to 26C
KH: don't care
GH: don't care
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: < 5mg/l
Tankmate: no
They breed like hares.

CRS overall is sensitive, however, with proper water management, they can be hardy.
I also know this site, it sold hybrid shrimps. Guess what Blue shrimps cross with Cherry. It does not become purple as one might thought, it is a little greenish.Originally Posted by edinjapan
That's because they are different varieties of the same species.Originally Posted by dtzy

hi, anyone know the effect of peat? i'm having crs in my 1 oot tank now. then the ph when i did a measurement is scary out of range for my ph test kit mine can test 6.2 to 7.4 only. and the colour it turn out to be more blue than the highest ph 7.4
i don't intend to use co2 injection for my tank so next best way is to use peat. any bro here can share with me their experience??? like to lower ph and why got such high ph??? could it be the ceramic ring i used in my filter media?
