Like the title says... What is this stuff and how do I get rid of it? The tank is 4+ gallons. No fauna yet... Flora is a bunch of Anubias Nanas and lots of moss. Doing every other day dosage of Fluorish Excel and JBL Ferropol every other week.

Your driftwood is new, it's driftwood fungus you're getting. It'll automatically go away after some time, or ime mollies/platies eat it up.

Driftwood fungus? Are there different types? This is slightly brownish... Quite unlike the normal whitish stuff I've seen before.

No, it's not rotting plants, there are no rotting plants in the tank.
Yes, it is near the filter's output, but what's that got to do with the growth?

Well fungus can take many forms I'm sure, like algae.

Wait for a while.. It might even be some form of brown algae.

this could be some fungus from wood in tank or remainant of BBA on the wood, in dried form.

If its fungus, they are easily taken care of by shrimps. If its BBA, take the wood out for a good scraping before putting it back.
