Hi folks, just bought a betta from c328. An uncle told me it's copper. But don't know whether is it the copper plakat as the tail and fins are longer.

Shot without flash with some sharpening done

Shot with flash in macro mode

Whatya looking at ? Kua simi ?!?

A more natural and original color

BTW, this new betta is in a heavily planted setup with peaceful fish like rasboras, darios and chocolate gourami. Hope he won't wreak havoc in there

Looks good indeed! It's a Betta splendens Var. "Copper" with super delta fin type.

    Cheers,

Din't intend to get him actually. But since I went all the way to clementi today to get the pl tubes, might as well buy something.

BTW, it's so difficult to get him to pose now since he has done with all his exploring when he just arrived couple of hours ago

Oddly enough I think the copper colour was developed from imbellis and then crossed in splendens.

Nonetheless, that's a very nice fella.

    Betta Splenden

To answer your question...it is not a plakat. Plakat is short tail.

Have to see it flare to see if it is a half moon. Half Moon tail flare 180deg. or more.

I saw the word half-moon in the shop, so maybe it's what you says. I saw one of benny's copper plakat and I thought it would look nice in my tank, didn't even bother to find out what exactly is a plakat or splendens.

So far so good, I think it's still juvenile as I see other betta in the shop much bigger than he is. I used a mirror last night to make him flare but he don't seem interested He's behaving more like a guppy in my tank Perhaps I will off the currents when I'm ready to shoot him.

    01 August 2005

    ISO 200, f/5.6, 1/60s, AWB at 55 mm, w/o flash taken on 01 Aug 2005

Placed dark blue cardboard behind tank. Thus causing mirror effect that made my betta flare
