    like to check
    do lotus consume alot of fert ?
    and how to make the lotus stay low and red?

    the red varieties are very fert hungry, i find. the green ones do ok without much base fert for me. to stay low, they need maximum light.

    The red "lotus" really take minimum effort to keep it red. If things are not to its liking, it just grow slowly but it will still be red.

    as to making it stay low, sufficient light helps. but i find that sooner or later, it will want to grow bigger and taller towards the light and put up floating leaves.

    It is fast growing if it is fertilized heavily. but, will do ok even if you don't give it special attention.

    Lotus? you want to make soup huh? The "lotus" that we use in planted tanks are not really lotus, but actually Lily. True lotus stick the entire leaf out of the water. Lily at most produce floating leafs.
