I am looking for books that can provide info on land ferns, shrubs, trees and plants in general. Info needed includes height, requirement, characteristics, origins, etc. If you know of some good reference book pls let me know.

    Thanks.

This is a good one, one of NPB publications-some nurseries use it for their reference

    1001 GARDEN PLANTS IN SINGAPORE
by Boo Chih Min, Kartini Omar-Hor, Ou-Yang Chow Lin

First ever 500-page comprehensive quick reference guide to over 1,200 plants found in Singapore. With over 2,800 pictures, this book is a must have for students, home owners, amateur / novice gardeners, plant lovers, nursery-men, landscape architects, etc. Available at major bookstores and nurseries.

Thanks Fei Miao, in fact I bought this book 3 days back.
Personally I think it is only an 'OK-lah' book because it lacks details such as height of plant/tree. Many of the pictures are taken with zoom and so you do not actually see the actual size of the plant.

BTW, if anyone want to offload this book from me pls PM me.

    Any other suggestion? Thanks.

Nicky, if you want a very detailed, well illustrated book, go for "TRopical Trees and Shrubs: A Selection for Urban Plannings" by Dr Wee Yeow Chin, a retired botany professor. Expensive ($60+ for hardcover, 392 pages) but indispensable. Should be available at better bookstores or the Botanic Gardens bookshop.

Or buy from Select Books at Tanglin Shopping Centre (http://www.selectbooks.com.sg/titles/33442.htm)
