I noticed that in most foreign sites featuring vivarium, they usually have false bottom. In this site most of the vivariums do not have false bottom. Am I right to say that false bottom is for drainage? Shouldn't all vivarium have false bottom? Wouldn't the roots rot if too much water is trapped in the soil ?

Most of them used egg crates(those for FL light fixture)... don't know why they are called egg crates ... for false bottom, it's suppose to be improve water circulation and hence more hygenie. I started using the clay granules, IMO they just as good.
