In a truly planted tank(not just the pitiful nana on log or fern on DW)we often see the standard fare of fauna namely, tetras, barbs, swordtails, rainbow (family) fish to name a few. The rarer ones would include killifish, glass catfish. The more expensive type of planted tank fauna would be Altum, Discus and arowana but they are still a "common sight".

My question to you guys is which fish would you "dream" to have in your planted tank? If have pic you can post if not the scientific name is also fab. For me, i would say I would not mind trying the Siamese Tiger (Chelonian sp?). However i have never seen a planted tank that has housed one yet.

    what abt you?

They look wonderful in planted tanks and not obstrusive in terms of colour.

Not sure if "exotic" means rare, expensive, under-utilized, weird or unique?

For me, would love to have a chance to use festive cichlid Mesonauta festivum.

For weird fish/odd balls, Puffers, wolffish, lungfish, eels, bichir comes to mind, but these probably won't show very well in a planted tank...

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.
