Not directly, and not before your livestock starts to die.
A possbility is that livestock mass-died due to too high CO2, creating a ammonia peak.
I've read that too low pH can affect the bacteria, but I don't remember the threshold. If you don't buffer your tank water, the pH drop froim too much CO2 could possibly wipe the bacteria. However, this unlikely as our waters has some KH.

Not really Vinz, the water from my tap have a KH reading of less than 1.Originally Posted by vinz
Even a slight amount of KH can buffer the pH. Our water can't be completely zero KH, else our water pH will be swinging all over the place depending on what gets into the water.
Anyway, we can't depend on our aquarium KH kits. You put one drop and the water turns colour right? So according to the instructions, that means a KH of 1. But it could 0.something, or 1.something, or even 0... but I doubt it can be 0.

ok....
i just measured my co2 level,
kh=3, ph=6,4=6.6, so it's roughly 24-36ppm.....
i was wondering if my co2 level actually cause my "Green water" problem which has yet to been solved for 1 month.....
any solutionS??

Hi,
Is your tank newly set up?
If yes,
The reasons for green water is due to the high amount of nutrients in your tank usually due to the leakage from your base fertilizer.
Is your tank heavily planted?
Did you slowly increase the photo-period?
Did you still dose any fertilizer?
Cure for green water.
Change 80% of your tank water and do a total blackout.
Do it everyday until the problem is resolve.
The 80% is a rough gauge, you can do it base on the seriousness of your problem. Some tank are very green while some are only tinted with green.
If you overdo it, you might have killed them off but then again, a fully planted tank shouldn't see that since they act merely as a backup for plants.Originally Posted by taz_boy
UV, diatom filter and in some cases blackout (minor ones).

blackout....
hence recently i changed 100% of the water, washed my gravel etc...(btw..my gravel does not contain base fertilizer)..
however, the green water problem occur a few days later....
how to solve siah???
perhaps i gonna try the blackout method again...plus water changes daily..
