Stable NO3 level does that. The key is stability which is easier at lower light levels and non-CO2 type of methods. Do not let it bottom out. No experiences with stuff like ECA and etc so I cannot say much about it.

Please correct me if I am wrong low nitrates, a bit more phospate, high light and a bit more iron will bring out the reds in plants. So I was wondering if ECA or iron bottom would be a better solution for me in a 5 gallon? Also, should I spend money on Green Gain? Does it really work? Thanks.

What do you mean by stable nitrates? How many ppm?

actually low nitrates and also high iron and lighting will bring out the red in the plants. However low nitrates would inevitably lead to some forms of algae, so remember the pros and cons

I am currently setting up a 5g with power sand and aqua soil, I was just wondering if Tourmaline BC and ECA will be too much for it?
