    Hi guys n gals!

    Need ur opinion. I am currently using a 2222 filter 4 about 2 months already n found it's performance lacklustre, underperformed. So should I upgrade 2 a 2026 or my other strategy is 2 get another 2222, 1 employing full time surface skimmer n the other 1 just normal filter. I'm leaning more on the 2nd setup n btw my tank is 3ftx1.5ftx2ft [LxBxH]. TIA, ur opinion is greatly appreciated!

    Get another 2222. Cheaper option compared to getting the 2026. Moreover, 2 x 2222 is greater(better) than 1 x 2026. []

    2222 can support up to 150 litres. You tank is 250 litres. So the performance is under par. A 2235, 2226, 2026 should help. Check out details at Eheim website.

    Kingpin: Why is two 2222 better than a 2026 in performance?

    Yup...thought so. Just a cheaper option compared to getting a 2026.

    I think getting another filter is a better idea. Cheaper, reduncancy in case one filter goes kaput, better water circulation.

    BFG, i think u can connect the 2 filters together.. i.e.. filter(1) is to draw the water into the filter(1), the outlet of filter(1) is connected to the intake of filter(2) and the outlet of filter(2) goes back to the tank..

    that = double filtration.. hehehe[]

    Have you heard of "excessive biological filtration"? It can happen if you have a filter that is not washed for a long time. There is too much of the nitrifying (correct?) bacteria turning the harmful ammonia to harmless nitrates.

    If you keep fish, then no problem. But if keeping plants, which prefer to take in Nitrogen in the form of ammonia before nitrates, they may have to work harder converting the nitrates to get their Nitrogen source. Plants may not grow as well.

    This was what I read in an article by Diana Walstad in Tropical Fish Hobbyist magazine. And I experienced it when my Duckweed died off, browning away. And after I washed my filter a little, the Duckweed bloomed back in two weeks. I didn't do anything special in the meantime.

    So - remember to wash your filter once in a while. Even if you have more than one.

    he has a 3x1.5x2 tank which a single 2222 cannot fully handle it's capacity so adding another 2222 will do. FIrst cheap, second more area for bacteria to colonize.
    Cheers!

    It is better to use each filter alone then linking it up. Most of the time after linking up, the performance might not be what you thought of initially.

    Using 2 filter configuration is good but bear in mind that with the added filter comes more hoses in your tank. It may look a bit messy...... probably need a bit creativity to hide the hoses maybe with plants.....

    Juz something to consider

    the wood i wash cleanly but when i started filling water, insects from the wood start to appear on the end of the driftwood don't quite know what it is, maybe it's a wood lice? can be? it survive both on land and in water. caught 3 peices to feed my apisto and in they went into the stomach.
    Cheers!
