How big is the tank? Can you age water (2 to 3 days) for it?

Do a 50% water change with aged water and use anti-chloramine (to avoid killing the filter bacteria). Do a complete blackout (3-days), no fert (starve the green water algae), cut the CO2 (not being used, and avoid CO2 poisoning to fishes). Add the bacteria that you bought (seed the filter). If you have one, or can borrow one, install a UV filter (kill the bacteria and algae floating in the water).

After the blackout, do another 50% water change and start ferting your plants. Leave the UV on for another 2 weeks to prevent bacteria bloom or green water from returning while the fitler bacteria builds up.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
