Ok guys i need some help here
My Rotala macaranda is growing slowly but almost turning green.
It is growing in Eco complete.Lighting is rather strong and is over 9 hrs at 300watts.Any ideas?
I dose macros and also micros ( i use Seachem flourish and flourish iron)
Ideas ive been given a few tips /ideas. One is to add some laterite to it at the base. The other is to add some extra Potassium Nitrate ( about 30%)
Has any one else had this problem before and how did you fix it?
Everything else is growing like a weed so i think tank is mainly ok.

Juggler's tanks
Hey Graeme..
Glad to see you post here.
I hear Bottoming our phosphates and nitrates brings out the reds in plants, but its a tad dangerous as prolong exposure to such conditions would result in algae - BGA especially.
Not sure if you remember me by now old friend..
Cheers,
Jerome.
Thanks for the tips guys
I am in australia so had no idea what that link was saying( lol)
I am still trying to work out why........
Graeme
Low stable NO3 will do bring out the redness but keeping it stable will be tougher with higher light and CO2 enriched systems. Low light/non-CO2 tanks can do that easily though with less issue of it bottoming out and cause BGA (due to its very slow growth...less stress on uptake of nutrients and CO2). A very red plant is actually an unhealthy plant (stress from lack of NO3). Some plants don't do well at lower NO3 levels and will stunt or slow down in growth.
