i'm planning to attach some extra java fern leaflets to a driftwood with rubber bands. (couldn't find any cotton thread at home )

would it be okay to have the rubber band in the tank for like 1 to 2 months until the java fern catch hold of the driftwood? i'll remove the rubber bands thereafter.

if rubber bands for such periods of time is a no-no, what else can i use? don't want to use staplets and it'd be hard to punch through the wood too.

Can use cable tie too available from DIY or electrical shops. Easier to work with than rubber bands and don't change structure when soaked long in water.

the best is to use fishing line, rubber band not that safe la...u nv know what will be released into water if rubber is subjected to aquarium water...

I've used rubber band(thick type) with nanas onto driftwood before, abt 1 mth+ then i cut off the rubber band and the nanas cling on well onto the driftwood. Livestock in the tank seems ok then.

    agreed with fishing lines...

the silliest thing I did was to use cotton thread, it just melted away in a week...
