this few days temp so low , i don't think u need fan now
So if air is extracted from lighthood, it will have the same effect?
thomas liew
u can try and see the results
So most will direct the fan to blow across the water surface?
thomas liew
for me, its blow between the water surface and lighting
me using AC fan, more powerful than DC although also much more noiser .... brought down my temp to abt 25 deg, very shiok

I am using a DC fan also blowing directly on the water surface underneath my lighthood, a 4-fans system which I got from Clementi C328. Not bad as it really bring down my tank temp from 31 to 27-28 degree. But it is really noisy(to the extend you feel so peaceful when you switch off the fan [] [] [] )
The evaporation rate is terrible as I need to replenish almost 1-1.5 litres everyday. Sometimes it make me wonder will it make my house turns mouldy as there is not much ventiiation (my windows all closed till I reach home from work.)
the only negative aspect is that must really be a good boy and top up the water level everday, once went away for a week, came back and one third of the water level is gone!

if the fan is blowing directly on the surface then u will have to work harder to top up water..
I'm using 2 AC fan to cool my tank to 28~29. My tank is really hot due to the 4X36W PL tubes + 2X30W FL tubes. Also the fact that the tank is covered with a hood. It's a daily affair to top up water... about 3L a day. But this is unavoidable, less evaporation means less cooling.
